Listen Up! County Lines

A representative of Selby Neighbourhood Policing Team had the pleasure of attending Selby Abbey yesterday to meet with Author, Christina Gabbitas. 

Christina has an exhibition at the Abbey showcasing   the ‘Listen Up!’ initiative which has given children and young people a voice on the topic of county lines exploitation, related criminal activities, and knife crime through poetry and lyrics. The voluntary initiative was launched in 2024 after Christina engaged with parents, carers, and those young people who had experienced exploitation firsthand.

North Yorkshire Police has supported the project with proceeds from crime monies. 

Neighbourhood Policing Team’s share Christina’s passion for keeping children and young people safe through the daily work that they do and through engagement and education in schools.

The exhibition is open now until 14th December, Christina will be there on Monday 8th from 11.00am should you wish to meet her.
